A major curriculum goal of The
Studio of Piano Fine Arts is to expose its students
and the public it serves to a diverse array of
musical literature and genres. Jazz is not to be
neglected. Throughout much of its history, the
studio has maintained a jazz presence, performing
regularly with students and amateur adults trained
in their instruments. At a performance for the
Southeastern Kentucky Leadership Conference held in
Harlan last Spring, the group received a standing
ovation for their performance of Claude Bolling’s “Rococco”
from “Picnic Suite.”
